GRAFFITI on CANVAS
1982-1991
My first one man show was held at Otis Parsons in 1988 while attending there, the title of the exhibition was Neo-Expressionism in response to the many articles written in artform about Basquiat, Harring, Zephyr and Julian Schnabel who were all my heroes at the time. Painting aerosol on canvas rarely seen in Los Angeles so my show had very little influence on anyone but my friends who were all b-boys and break dancers. I didn't take many photos of most of my work at the time but it seemed to me that spray paint looked much better on walls than on canvas.
